Hing is Intensely Aromatic. Its flavour is sometimes mistaken for Garlic. Also known as Asafoetida. Volatile Oil is the main active constituent of the Hing, which is responsible for its Therapeutic significance. Hing is extracted from Ferula Assa-Foetida. It is a resin-like gum that is extracted from the dried sap of the stem. The sap is extracted from the stems and root, which then hardens into a brownish-yellow sap. Hing by itself is Bitter and Musky. It changes as soon as it is heated in ghee, where it immediately mellows into a full-bodied pleasant flavour. It comes in compounded and powdered Form.
